  1. Utter nonsense like this should be deleted by the mods. Nasty, twisted and bullying in its intent.
  2. As to McInroy he doesn’t fit the mould our midfielders are asked to play - ie anywhere and everywhere up down and across the midfield. He is too left footed for that…This is partly caused by Rory not having a position and AP being asked to do too much! I’d like to see Mayo, Sanders and Wright as our main central defenders. Big Jack looks like a prospect for the future and is no more of a bomb scare than Ash who is caught for pace now and Stokes who cannot be said to be a prospect. If we don’t play them we’ll never know
  3. The over the top criticism of Danny is unfair and unwarranted. Yes he made a mistake and should be punished by the club internally. Personalised abuse is never appropriate particularly from the stands and does far more damage than good. So let’s hope the armchair warriors can remove their chest wigs and leave the boy alone! 1 He has been outstanding over recent weeks - probably one of the top performers in the league 2 He winds the other teams up every game. It’s part of his nature and a pity some of our other players don’t have the same up and at them attitude 3 Sevco teamed up on him - hard to back away from that without the support of your team 4 The abuse given to Ollie Shaw was bordering on the criminal - from our own stands. It hasn’t done him much good! 5 Let’s keep the feel good stuff going. Divide and conquer is not our way!
  4. The problem has been that Power and Donnelly don’t work well together with Power appearing to do all the work - too big an ask. I’d go as far as saying that Donnelly has been our least effective midfielder over the season so far. On the contrary Power and Polworth have looked far more effective combining higher work rates with better out ball opportunities especially now that Robby is fit. Credit to Donnelly on Wednesday he certainly upped his game - hopefully we’ll now see more of this from him. If we have a battle for starting places that’s a good thing but AP would always be one of the first on the team sheet for me. happy to be proven wrong though!
  5. One of my main issues and one of our biggest problems is that when Rory plays (and I’m a big fan of many of his qualities) he doesn’t appear to have a fixed position. He is allowed to play pretty much wherever he likes the result being that we lose all shape and system in the final third. That effectively means that we can’t rely on an out ball to him because we have to find him first. That might be ok in a settled team (where it can bring other benefits) but ours is still finding its feet and as such feels like we are playing with ten men. Systems and shapes are crucial to building a team and the decision by the manager to play Rory in this way is to my mind counterproductive (and unfair on the player too!)
  6. My first reaction to the goal was that Walker had made about as good a save as he could have. Unfortunately the wall stood still after the ball was hit. I know we’re talking split seconds for reaction time but some of the early defending was pedestrian at best with players guilty of ball watching at worst. I think some sharper reactions might have prevented the goal. It’s clear to me that Ash is half a yard short on pace - he is an invaluable player with his goals and general play - but needs to play smart to avoid being caught out like yesterday. If other players put him in that situation then the manager has a job to do. While we have been hurt by injuries we are also a new team finding its feet. It doesn’t help to have players pilloried. The reaction by some fans to Ollie’s miss last week was among the worst I have seen at Rugby Park. Similarly with Sam Waker - yet he has improved game after game since the start of the season. Many had him close to being MOM yesterday. Getting behind the team will help everyone gel more quickly and help everyone’s confidence.
  7. New club motto ”We will never close the Rugby Road gates. Never, not ever, well maybe…”
  8. We can’t be there in body but we’re there in spirit. Behind the team every kick of the ball. KTID from Crete!
  9. When we scored it seemed like the league had been won there and then. Psychologically we relaxed, physically we relaxed and as such lost our mental strength, resilience and effort. Its was a lack of discipline primarily combined with all the other usual frailties as previously highlighted. We can win the league only if we retain 100% focus across everyone’s job - players and management. That is the only way this squad can be good enough.
  10. Watching the Hamilton game through the eye of a needle would be better...
  11. I'm not being ageist but at 58 TW is about 9 years past the average age of managers across Europe's elite leagues. You could say 9 years past his best. He could of course be an outlier and is peaking late but generally elite clubs have much younger managers. The average age of Champions League winners since 1993 is 49.2 years and Alex Ferguson aside title winners are 50.5 years.* On this basis the odds are well against us winning the league as there is no indication that he is perforing as an (exceptional) potential league winner! Time for change! *source The Telegraph 23/5/19
  12. Absolutely woeful performance. We've been found out in almost every game against better opposition. Management team appear to have no tactical awareness, inability to change the game, unable to motivate players (in fact the opposite) and a dour, closed mindset. Time for change!
  13. I seem to recall a clear delineation of board duties and responsibilities outlined on here before with different departments or functions assigned to each board member. Each board member would have a strategic overview with relevant staff responsible for day to day delivery and reporting to them. The board, in normall circumstance through a chairperson, consider and act on theses reports in the overall context of the clubs strategic plan. This would include informing fans and accountability groups (shareholders, The Trust} of key decisions, progress etc. My overall impression is that while various aspects of the business have improved others - most worryingly on field activity - have not. The two key staff with responsibilities in this area are TW and JF. What is their assessment of the current situation, how do they see us improving on it and what is the timeline of next steps to avoid a worst case scenario (which will knock on to all other aspect of the business.) And most importantly what is the position of the board on this? My own feeling is that while the board seems to generally operate fairly well on the basis of conscensus there is the lack of a cutting edge or decisiveness, particularly around on field activity - surely our raison d'etre. Conscensus can lead to drift and we all know where that took us. Time to think about an expanded board and leadership at board level.
  14. The overwhelming message I'm taking week in week out is that other teams (almost all) are better organised with players (often inferior) who have a clearer idea of their role and a greater committment to beat us than we have even to draw with them! We have a large and largely talented squad which is not being adequately prepared for the game in front of them and is severely underperforming. Few players are leading from the front particularly at home and few are even doing the basics well. It appears that the manager's approach/response is limited, inflexible and to many people's minds unsuited to the talents and balance of the squad. Nevertheless we have managed to sustain a position towards the top of the league. It seems to me that consistently successful managers are meticulous in their pursuit of improvement across the whole football club - from their own personal development and performance through the different departments of the club to the field of play. Steve Clark managed this and galvanised the whole club and support as one. Step by step. Results were expected - but on the basis of very hard work, committment and improvement across the whole club. We all know what happened next... At the time I thought TW was a decent appointment, however, I'm now fearing the worst. The Board in trying to build a successful business model have to recognise that everything roots to the performance of the team. As the heads go down on the park they go down off the park too. Time for leadership.
