  1. A conversation between Richard Gordon and Alan Preston producing a point worth discussing would be a red letter day that's for sure. If ever a programme needs a radical revamp it's Aberdeensound.
  2. Ramsey's out of favour at Juve, he'll dae - anyone spotted him in Morrisons yet?
  3. To be fair both of these attributes would be an improvement on the current position! Fancy formations are all very well but fundamentally we need the players to be motivated to deliver, even Man U reverted back to 4-4-2 last night as they weren't playing well with other formations.
  4. Biggest disappointment of all the signings I reckon. The way he was casually jogging back in the build up to the goal in Inverness was a disgrace. Inverness fan told me when the going gets tough he always disappears. God knows why he signed for us then!
  5. Kazakhstan 3 Scotland 0. Took me 3 goes to even spell that. Stick to the commentary box
  6. I was sitting near Hartley in one of Locke's first games, pre season friendly v Fleetwood. He took notes the whole game and said to his mate we can just play through them. He then turned up with Dundee the following week when Hemmings and Stewart ripped us to shreds, 4-0 going on 8. So was quite impressed with his attention to detail and gameplan. I know though, it didn't take a tactical masterclass to beat that lot. And my Falkirk supporting mate echoes some of the comments earlier, lousy signings, fell out with everyone, lacked connection with the fans and destroyed team spirit. On balance probably best avoided.
  7. Slightly reminds me of Calderwood - someone who doesn't really want to be here but pitched up cause he didn't get a better offer and is bitter he didn't
  8. Problem I have with TW is a) he's not exactly Mr Charisma, the fans don't feel any connection b) these are his players, by October it's not unreasonable to expect a pattern of play to have emerged (ok it has, but not this pattern) c) most of the time since he took charge whenever there's a game with close rivals in the league we bottle it (incl. last season 2 games v County with one lucky draw & the 2 against Dundee) - coincidence? Absolutely fed up with this standard of football.
  9. Gayfield on a Friday night with the wind howling off the North Sea is never going to be straightforward. I'd have gladly taken a point before the game. The baffling part was why we insisted in keeping the ball airborne and as discussed we don't know if that was the players not following instructions or the manager telling them to boot the ball up the park. McGinn looked like Zidane when he came on compared to what had gone before.
  10. It's the lack of an obvious gameplan that's the biggest concern. We dont know what plan A is let alone B or C. That squad should be able to win the championship at a canter. You look back to Mixu, we were getting beat every week but we could all see what he was trying to build and the fans completely stuck with him. Wasn't much complaining at all because we were watching a team.trying to play.
  11. What's the story with Armstrong? Raith fans were raving about him last season. TW still in the huff about the East Kilbride fiasco?
  12. Fair shout, you're right. Remember coming out of Love Street where we took a massive support thinking we'd blown it. Only got up because Dunfermilne capitulated.
  13. Exactly. Maybe those of us who are less than enthusiastic about the standard do have a sense of entitlement that their team will actually try to play some football. The most entertaining football I've seen from us over the years were usually in the lower league (73/74, 78/79, 92/93) so I'm not buying this dogfight crap that means we can't expect to see a decent game of football in this league. The people with a sense of entitlement are those at the club who take for granted that fans will continue to show up to watch this pish. Folk have better things to do with their time.
  14. Dunno, don't remember his tactics being this bad at Saints so was prepared to give him benefit of the doubt. But agree he was completely outhought by James Mourinho McPake so you do wonder
  15. Don't believe for one minute Wright is happy with that. Defending his players publicly, but behind the scenes must be fed up watching this hoofball rubbish week after week
  16. I think his problem with us stemmed for the fairly shameful treatment of Eddie Morrison. Eddie gave him a lift to training from Port Glasgow and as well as being a club legend was an absolute gentleman. For some reason Willie Fernie didn't fancy him and he was punted without any fanfare at all. Not only that but Fernie paid by our standards good money for Rikki Bloody Sharp to replace him (don't think he actually scored a single goal for us). So the charitable me thinks Provan was disgusted at his mate's treatment. The uncharitable me think he was hacked off his lift had disappeared!
  17. Careful Chubbs, this is a no humour zone today
  18. That's more like it @Mclean07, been missing the grumpiness!
  19. So was just thinking there, I've been watching this lot for 50 years but can't think of a single season where we've won our first three league games. Thanks to David Ross's magnificent book charting our first 125 years I was able to check the archives. Turns out we last won our first 3 league games in......(drum roll) yes, the ultimate season, 1964/65! Well done lads Ps now told it was on the match thread on Saturday, sorry guys am not keeping up here!
  20. Better than last season's false 11
  21. I'm not buying this young kid stuff. The guy's 20. Plenty of under 20s have scored goals at the World Cup let alone the Scottish Championship. I'm working on the assumption (bear with me, suffer from pre-season optimism syndrome every year) that circumstances at a relatively big club have meant that he's not had a proper chance yet, and with a run of games at our level he'll thrive. Tommy's comments suggest we've actually done a bit of research on this one, which is probably more than can be said for certain other loan signings in recent years
  22. That's how I see it. Complete lack of mobility in midfield last season, got away with it under Clarke because the shape of the team was so good and everyone had a role which played to their strengths. Turned O'Donnell into Cafu on Friday! Power is a very tidy footballer but I can't get see you getting away with no pace against hungry teams in the championship unless you have Adam's range of passing and dead ball expertise (neither of which he has). Surprised at this, his last performance in Paisley wasn't great, caught on the ball a lot
  23. Despite being a loanee that guy showed nothing but passion and commitment towards our club. Congratulations on representing your country at the Euros Danny, we're all proud of you
