  1. Mixu was a gamble and through time it worked, if we were to go down this route just now we would be relegated. There is a reason a "safe pair of hands" always get jobs this time of the season, they are reliable to turn the situation round and short term it works. We can't afford to gamble just now.
  2. We were never going to get someone to replicate SC so don’t try. Whoever replaced Clarke was going to have his shadow over them, either appoint an inferior version of him or go in a different direction. We opted for a left field choice but his mentality was different to SC. Then was the optimal time to seek sales of some of our players, try and offload some to give the manager space in the squad and much needed funds to build a team in his vision. As it was we hung onto an ageing squad and didn’t protect the value of said players by extending when we were on a high and more desirable to those players.
  3. I disagree, he never changed enough and I feel that was his downfall. I feel if he was properly supported by the board in terms of recruitment he would have been able to root out the trouble makers. It's a common theme in football, managers following on from a club legend has its pitfalls and trying to keep to many of the players and style often leads to a downfall. Moyes following Ferguson is an obvious one, the team had aged (any familiarities) and needed refreshed but he was too overawed and never rooted the team out. Players weren't happy with his pre game ritual and revolted (sound familiar).
  4. Have you seen his Celtic contract? They weren't paying him when they terminated his contract
  5. Why? If I drive down to Downing Street will I get an interview for a civil service job? His qualifications are probably just as relevant for this job as mine are for some civil service role. His application should never have got into the consideration pile!
  6. It's not bad luck it was just lazy, We had expected Bachmann but he should be sensible enough (after Tish pulling out at 11th hour) to have other plans in case. As it stood he panicked and brought in Eastwood and flung him in the team having never trained with the defence. When he had a long term injury we should have ended the loan then and sought a new number 1, instead he kept him on loan till Jan and brought in the 3rd choice from a recently relegated team. As I said nothing to do with luck.
  7. I think it's in reference to the fact we haven't offered any players a contract
  8. TBF on Fowler Dyer had already extended Doyle's loan so probably tying up funds etc. If Rodgers is out for any length of time then I'd give Lyle the gloves.
  9. We have 5 subs in a game, no excuses for players being tired because they played 3 times in a week. Our use of Subs is baffling
  10. What's even more baffling is he ended the last season as their 3rd choice! To think we had our hopes lifted about getting Bachmann back this season and instead we have ended up with 2 reserve keepers and a kid! Money well spent.
  11. Is that an inclination that it was Dyer stopping said deals? now he is out the door we have multiple deals lined up.
  12. He has a game plan? You could have fooled me, it looks like he picks XI players and leaves them to it.
  13. The difference is I’m not employed and paid handsomely by the club to organise and MANAGE this group of players. If Dyer doesn’t know how to get a tune out of this group of players then step aside and allow someone else the opportunity. You list 6 players unavailable yet just last week Martindale CHOSE to leave a group of players out and still managed to field a team with a game plan to take a point of our reigning champions. All this was achieved with a budget far less than ours
  14. Exactly, the player is never going to pass on circa 4.5k per week to move, best option is for us to take him on loan and pay 1.5k+ of his wage and Rangers pay the rest so he isn't out of pocket. The alternative view is he is a Rangers fan and he wants to be part of the squad that stops 10
  15. The problem is AD said he doesn't want players who don't want to be here, if SF signs a PCA then we lose our best centre back. In the current climate no club is going to spend money on a player they can get for nothing in a few months especially when the season could be halted at anytime.
  16. There is no mention of an actual offer or if said offer is still on the table. He mentions that Brophy was offered an extension a year ago, this time last year he said no contract offer had been made to Findlay. Why?
  17. Your correct it is early but the fact remains the signs are positive. Us on the other hand haven't seen any positivity in over a year. Regarding off the field it is a prime example of how quickly from a standing start an interview and selection process can and should be done.
  18. A look across at Motherwell shows what we could have had if we had some balls. They go from European football to a shambles on the pitch. Result? The manager does the decent thing and walks away. Board quickly draw up a shortlist and whittle it down to 4 names. Conduct interviews and appoint the best candidate in quick time. The performance today might not have been pretty but you could see a game plan and could tell they were set up to be awkward to play against, no doubt in my mind they will turn things around and be well clear of trouble by the end of the season.
  19. We know Burke will sign and be happy to wait as he has in the past. However it's our sellable assets that we should be building our team around that worries me. This 6 months or 1 year contracts is worrying and doesn't allow us to build the squad again going fwd. Any player who excels will ultimately leave for nothing or a ludicrous low fee.
  20. What part in recent history would make you believe this train of thought? AD has no clue and just wants to remain friends with everyone rather than put noses out of joint. We should be prioritising squad members like Kiltie and Findlay who have a resale value then if finances afford we work through other members of the squad depending on their value to the squad and club. I seem to remember last season Chris Burke refused to engage in contract negotiations untill the club had sorted out contracts for the younger members of the squad.
  21. Why though? We would still need to field a team next season whatever league we were in, Kiltie is one of our own and any rebuild should contain him as an essential part. I don't believe Kiltie would be difficult to deal with and not amongst our top earners.
  22. Even pre COVID this is an issue, every year we have hardly any games in August and September then come the winter we seem to have at least 2 games a week.
  23. Exactly, I hope the Test and Protect team hold them to the same high standards we were held to. Surely the fact the virus has an incubation period they can't be satisfied that only one player has the virus and that in the next few days we could see a rise in the number of the squad who have the virus?
  24. No wonder when the pitch literally across the road is playable. DU clearly didn't want the game to go ahead today and the spineless SPFL will allow it
  25. It's a short career so you can't hold it against him wanting to be paid more. I actually believe there is more to it than the cash, he has hardly kicked a ball for us this season and ST Mirren have clearly promised him the opportunity to get regular game time again and this is massive at his age.
