kfc_superteam Posted January 20, 2022 Report Posted January 20, 2022 Kyle Lafferty has been spotted at Rugby Park as he closes in on a deal with Kilmarnock. Record Sport first told you that Derek McInnes was keen on bringing the striker back to Ayrshire. McInnes is keen to add more firepower for their Championship title charge. The Northern Ireland striker is a free agent after he tore up his contract with Cypriot club Anorthosis Famagusta. 0 Quote
Killied Posted January 20, 2022 Report Posted January 20, 2022 Massive credit to Bowie if Lafferty is over the line. Incredible after what's been spent so far. 9 Quote

Lafferty scores at least two goals from open play against Partick. If he'd been presented with the chances Shaw has then he'd have 15 goals easy by now. 10 Quote

If true - and I stress if until things confirmed - the guy is a complete and utter mercenary….but he’s our mercenary and so let’s see him bang in a shed load of goals in the remainder of the season and secure that automatic promotion spot. Well and truly a last throw of the dice from BB - he has to back the judgement of DM on all of this. 3 Quote

Hell be on a wedge so end of the season suits both parties and can review then 0 Quote

He’s gone “all in”. Take any risk out of promotion by buying quality - manager and players. Short term exposure but cost of failure unthinkable and detrimental to his investment in the club. 5 Quote

Agreed 100% Also just goes to show the direction we were headed under TW was way off track…….. 0 Quote
kfc_superteam Posted January 20, 2022 Author Report Posted January 20, 2022 I think last season was a financial disaster but the cost of not investing and not getting up is far greater than pushing the boat out. Its the least bad option 9 Quote

All the other sides in the league will be going "Aw FFS this is not good at all First McInnes now Lafferty!". Edited January 20, 2022 by Beaker71 0 Quote

But persoective has Shaw missed 7 or a8 sitters that Lafferty puts away.... YES. So with a s**te midfield we have created at least another dozen sitters most of which should go in. But the MF will need rebuilding properly in the summer. -1 Quote
LH31 Posted January 20, 2022 Report Posted January 20, 2022 We're flexing our muscle. Quite like it. 0 Quote

I'm happier now we have Tait and I still presume we'll bring at least one more in. However, despite how poor Alston and McGinn eg are as a pair we still created a fair few clear-cut chances on Friday. As we have done in most other games. 0 Quote

But I agree his hand has been forced - I think it was reasonable to expect that with the money he gave TW we could have pulled clear. It’s hasn’t worked out. And to his immense credit he’s going to ensure it happens. 0 Quote

We have already brought in one Midfielder today, probably 1 more to come. Imagine we turned down Lafferty and he went to say Partick? Scored like he did last year and we miss out on promotion? Get the quality in when the chance is there. 2 Quote

That seems to me to be The Sun reporting we've signed him. Ffs. -3 Quote

Our spending in the summer should have been enough to go back up and not haemorrhage money, but now rather than easing our way we need to spend more. It may look like flexing - and it is good to see we are still able to do it despite Covid etc - but surely this is our last opportunity; "all in" as others have said. Killie Championship finances in 2022-23 would be a totally different beast I reckon. 1 Quote
