Rugby Park favourite Alan Power is closing in on a return to Kilmarnock.

Boss Derek McInnes is keen to bring the Irishman back to Ayrshire following the expiry of his contract at St Mirren.

The 34-year-old is midfielder is on the verge of signing a one-year deal to rubber stamp a second stint at the club.

Power previously had a successful five year stint at Kilmarnock where he helped them back into Europe under Steve Clarke.

He only left Killie after they were relegated under Tommy Wright.

Surely no. Played just about every game for the buddies but he’s 34 might as well have kept Mcginn

Have to agree, he would give us some bite in the middle, but McGinn is a better baller.

I don’t see how he fits in to the midfield. Obviously he brings more bite and aggression. He’s not the anchor we are looking for, not the passer or the energetic box to box.

Hope it goes well but very surprising.

Absolutely loved Alan Power, one of my favourite Kilmarnock players. He wasn't good in his last season here in a terrible side, looked well off the pace. If he comes back I'd be surprised if he is a regular starter, would love to get another season out of him at the top of his game but I can't really see it.

Almost every minute of every game too so his fitness and discipline seem okay.

We need more youth and pace though with the likes of Taylor and Stokes in central defence.

If McInnes thinks he can get something out of him then I’m all for it

Sums it up for me , have to trust DM …..IF this is true then it’s a 1 year deal for an experienced player , who knows if he will be a starter for us or not ……feel we could see at least a couple of central midfielders signed this summer

I’d say on the ball it’s about equal. They both have that natural silkiness but power brings more than just that imo
