Popular Post Killieboykfc Posted January 12 Popular Post Report Posted January 12 A genuinely miserable place this forum at times. Richardson and McInnes can’t do right for doing wrong for a lot of people. A fit Ramsay is miles better than anything we have at the minute in that area of the pitch. 48 Quote

For me, if he comes in and hits form it could be a season defining signing, like I said earlier, it’s a gamble, but if it pays off, it’s more than worth it. 0 Quote

I can remember some people asking why we signed Eremenko when a striker that season was the priority. Who will score the chances he creates. The fortunate thing about football is there is usually more than one solution to the problem. It’s up to the manager to find it. If we add a quality RB/RWB option then maybe we cut out some of the daft goals we’ve conceded. Maybe he gives us better balance and we offer more of a threat from that position going forward as well. 3 Quote

I just feel we should prioritise and spend on other areas of the park in dire need of attention Edited January 12 by Pride_of_ayrshire -2 Quote
casual observer Posted January 12 Report Posted January 12 My tuppenceworth - let’s see what the boy’s like when he plays for us before making judgements of his worth. We need a right sided defender to allow us to stop playing Lyons or Mayo or wingers in that area. DM decided early that Burroughs wasn’t going to cut it. Ramsay has the pedigree to drastically improve our defence and balance, but we don’t know the current condition of him and if he’ll be robust enough to play the next 4 months without issues. Celtic Park probably won’t be the day to make definitive judgements either. 4 Quote

I actually think we have been pretty unlucky in many games, Motherwell a perfect example. But also the run of away games was ridiculous, and doesn’t always even itself out, the form damage can be done and that was the case. I think St Johnstone are in bother, but I would t fancy us in a play off again, although we are a far better side than the one that succumbed to Dundee. St Johnstone and Ross County are both poor - and St Johnstone look pretty much adrift in 12th place - but yet we have lost all 4 matches against them this season……. 4 Quote

He had 28 appearances for Aberdeen before his move - the reported fee paid by Liverpool was £4.2m, which - to be honest - is chump change for the Premiership (and represents just about 0.5% of Liverpool’s squad cost of over £787m as at June 2023)……. He’s had trouble with injuries and so I’d caution expectations not getting too high…..if, indeed, the loan move transpires. And yet, despite being chump change, it’s millions more than we are ever going to receive for any of our youngsters, which would suggest that clearly, he was viewed to have tremendous ability. I don’t think anyone is claiming that he’s Cafu to be honest. People are just saying it seems like a very sensible signing, for a player that seems to come with a very high reputation. There’s obviously questions over his injury concerns, but it seems like a fairly low risk, potentially high reward signing - folk still aren’t happy though. Edited January 12 by Killieboykfc 1 Quote

They are both rank rotten and have both taken full points off of us home and away so far this season. I don’t think we can be immune from that criticism. We are not the side we were for a multitude of reasons. These are the games we need to learn to be effective in to help us kick on. 1 Quote

Anyway he's not signed yet and it's all paper talk at the moment 3 Quote

I assume McInnes didn't think he was up to it. And based on the limited time I seen him, Denmark aside, he didn't look good enough. It's up to these players to stake a claim for a starting position. Any time he came on he looked miles off the standard and his crossing was 9/10 times right out the park. If he was good enough to start in quite sure he'd have been playing as it makes zero sense to not play your best eleven to McInnes. On paper a guy who was out of contract end of season who played multiple positions was a good signing that if it worked, could have been made permanent. You win some you lose some. 0 Quote
KillieFanInToon Posted January 12 Report Posted January 12 Like others I have concern about Ramsay's fitness. He could be the best prospect going, but if he's injury prone then he's not much use to us. See what happens I suppose but I'm treating this rumour with a bit of skepticism. 2 Quote

I’ve not trawled through loads but Tranfermarkt says it was while he was at Preston. He hasn’t played a lot of football this season and doesn’t seem to have been involved since October for Wigan for whatever reason. I'm hoping it’s a case of getting him confident and playing regularly rather than the road back from injury. 0 Quote

I think he had another knee problem at Wigan and had his loan spell cut short by Liverpool so he could do his rehab with them. Not exactly sure of the timeline though and if it's a confidence thing then I'm less pessimistic. 0 Quote

Depends what we're after I think - if we're looking for an Armstrong replacement he could be a good shout if fit (and that's a big if) where his defensive duties are secondary. If we want an actual balanced fullback, I remember him being great going forward and pretty weak (being polite) defensively, and his defensive stats are really quite poor even for his Aberdeen season, though he did finish 10th with him in that full season so it was a poor side all round. 0 Quote

MarkyMark Posted January 12 Report Posted January 12 Said weeks ago that I’d prefer us to sign a right back that could be similar to Ndaba on the left rather than another centre half. Some said that it wouldn’t work if Danny stayed. Let’s see what happens if we sign Ramsay. One thing I hope the management have realised is that we need to be more flexible and evolve in the way we play. 0 Quote
