Scouser2 Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 Confirmed by club ### We are delighted to announce the signing of Thomas Wilson-Brown from English Premier League side Leicester City, pending international clearance. The left-footed 20-year-old defender has joined from the Foxes on a season-long loan deal and will join the squad as we prepare for the remaining fixtures of the 2024/25 season. Tom’s versatility and defensive strength will be a valuable addition to the team. Welcome to Ayrshire, Tom! 5 Quote
Pieboy Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 An unproven young boy from Leicester who’s never played a Senior game? Not convinced that’s what we need but wish him well nonetheless. Buckle up folks could be a long second half of this season. -1 Quote
piffer Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 Welcome aboard and all the best. Here’s to a successful time in Ayrshire 3 Quote
Ipkis Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 Hope he absolutely smashes it up here. Good luck Tom, and welcome to Kilmarnock. 4 Quote
Pride_of_ayrshire Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 The January window as del says we look to improve on what we’ve got. This is the first window since his tenure you could honestly say we’ve not and the first one when we’ve really needed to. No harm to the lad but funds should’ve been used elsewhere imo. Unless of course dels plan is to put Joe Wright up top 0 Quote
Lorielus Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 Good luck to him, hope he at the very least provides some competition at the back for us. 0 Quote
Kanyon Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 Doubt we’ll see much of him but hopefully if we do it goes well for him. 0 Quote
Mclean07 Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 Let’s see how much time our two loan signings spend warming the bench. -1 Quote

If Calvin Ramsay shows anything like fulfilling his potential it will have been a successful window. We also didn't lose any players, which has to be viewed as a positive. 1 Quote

Unless of course dels plan is to put Joe Wright up top I’m underwhelmed by what we’ve done in the window. I feel we could have done more to give ourselves a better chance in the league. However we might actually be coming out stronger than we went in. We’ve lost Burroughs and Bainbridge both of whom despite some early promise in Europe offered nothing in the league. If Ramsay and Wilson-Brown make any sort of domestic impact we may well be better off. 0 Quote

Unless of course dels plan is to put Joe Wright up top Last January we spunked tonnes of money on two players who everyone was excited about but who didn't improve us one iota. As for this signing, we will be contributing very little to the deal. Our manager has said constantly that we have no money so why anyone believed that would change is beyond me. 3 Quote
BigRoguey Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 He's apparently the captain of Leicester's development squad. Might not mean much up here but I'm hopeful he turns out to be a good addition. 3 Quote
Mclean07 Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 Oh well, Danny going for nowt after folks hoping for a million plus at one time. -7 Quote
Scouser2 Posted February 3 Author Report Posted February 3 Good luck to him , and if ever given game time hope he makes a positive contribution for us 0 Quote
casual observer Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 Oh well DM was clear from the off the budget was spent and looks like he was being up front about it! We’re no worse off than on Jan 1st other than through injury. Wilson-Brown a more versatile but similar profile to Bainbridge, Ramsay (if fit) a clear upgrade to Burroughs. No one left, we got no fees in. Couple of younger defenders now likely to get game time elsewhere. We’ve had far worse January windows despite the doom merchants commentary. It’s up to the squad to step up & perform now. 5 Quote

I'm just annoyed that I was down in the Midlands for work last year and Futbology told me the Leicester U23s were playing near where I was staying but I decided not to go. Could have been on here and be properly ITK for once. Gutted. -4 Quote

St Mirren/Motherwell if he's determined to leave but his form this year won't have many desperate to sign him 0 Quote
TTF Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 On paper we’ve signed two youngsters from EPL clubs. Hopefully both have a point to prove and Killie see the benefit of it. 1 Quote

skygod Posted February 4 Report Posted February 4 (edited) There are several types of loans: there are mature players - internationals even - who are out of favour at their clubs; think Stein, Eremenko and Stewart. Then there are up and coming stars-to-be like Ajer, Bachmann, Findlay and Maddison, who McInnes had at Aberdeen. They have tasted first team football at smaller clubs or on previous loans. And there young players who are at big clubs, but in the U20s or 23s and have little or no first team experience. Too many names to mention here, but we got lucky with Dennis and Longstaff, and Keiran Agard went on to have a long and prolific career. Wilson-Brown is in the last category, very much an unknown entity. If he comes in, claims a first team place and holds it down, it will have been an inspired bit of scouting. The odds are against him though because the Scottish Premiership is very different from the English Premiership 2. DM said himself that there was no point in bringing in "bench-warmers" so he has set Wilson-Brown a big challenge. He, or Richardson more likely, must have seen something in him. I'm sure he will be technically good but can he cope with the pace and physicality of our game? Good luck to him! Edited February 4 by skygod 4 Quote
RayD Posted February 4 Report Posted February 4 Maybe Del sees him operating at LB/LWB with Ndaba moving into an attacking midfield role? Good luck to the young man whatever the plan is, hope he falls into the Ajer/Longstaff type of loan category. 2 Quote
Pompey Repatriated Posted February 4 Report Posted February 4 We've had limited success with these sorts of loans. Hopefully this isn't the case and Wiilson-Brown isn't filling a role that Schilte-Brown could have done 0 Quote
