If at all possible the club should look to get him signed full time. Birmingham are a mess financially so will be open to deals and a move like this could really lift the club right now.

Probably wishful thinking on my part.

I wonder which club will be first in line to snap up a bargain....

This is just the downside of relying on the loan market. Jones is the downside of a player running down his contract.

If we generated more income, or could develop and sell players for large transfer fees - something we are poor at - we would have a better chance of having a squad of our own players on longer-term contracts.

Maybe the penny will drop for some people on TiK now.

Agreed skydog - sadly the TIK uptake has still been disappointing

I’m not looking for a full on debate on the benefits of TIK, I don’t think it’s relevant in this thread.

Developing and selling players for large transfer fees isn’t, and hasn’t been the norm in Scotland in the last 10 years.

We took Stewart on loan because that’s the market we shop in. The problem with that is we leave ourselves open to situations like the one which has played out. Stewart has been great since he joined, he’ll be sorely missed. Hope SSC can pull a rabbit out the hat before next Saturday/Wednesday.

Real sore one. What a talented footballer we have lost.

However there is plenty of time left in the window for SSC to do his stuff so let’s not panic like some people did in the summer when we were late movers in the window. Trust the gaffer

Birmingham’s transfer embargo includes a clause barring them from offering contracts to players for over £10k a week and Gary Monk is greeting that he’s at a huge financial disadvantage when trying to attract new players. That puts into context where we stand when trying to negotiate a transfer fee or deal to bring Stewart in long term!

Omg that’s an absolute disaster. His goal at Aberdeen, accompanied by the fantastic away day was one of my highlights of the season. With him gone, Jones either away or not interested possibly, and talk of interest in Brophy this could be the worst transfer window ever. Please Sir Steve find us another miracle.

A right sickener. SSC has never let us down before, but it’s going to take something out of the ordinary to replace someone of his quality. Something I just don’t feel is possible.

what a team that was. Won’t forget 2018- shame it’s heading this way

Crowd numbers will drop....sadly!

If they do they should never come back again. We still have a squad that have given their all to get us where we are and deserve backing. Thankfully if theres anyone to sort this mess out we have the perfect man in charge. No doubt replacing Greg is an almost impossible job but we just have to get on with it
